GMODEL is a linear shallow water ("1.5 layer") model of the equatorial Pacific. Its domain is 30S-30N, 122E-292E, on a 2x1 degree grid with realistic boundaries. Its only dynamical field is the thermocline depth, hoc. From this field the SST is computed with a simple SST-equation that is valid only in the eastern Pacific. The GMODEL can be run either in a forced mode, using FSU wind fields, or in a coupled mode with a simple statistical atmosphere. The time is kept in days, using 12 months of 30 days.
